Finally, snowmobile season has begun! The maps have been sent out and you should be receiving them shortly if you haven’t gotten them already. In this package you should also receive a newsletter, a few stickers, activities card and raffle tickets. If you would like to review an electronic copy of our newsletter, please click HERE. We have also updated our website calendar to include all events scheduled for this year.

Raffle Tickets
This is a huge fundraiser for our club and all clubs located in NY State. Please support the club and try your chances at winning a huge prize! You don’t even have to be present to win! Please return all sold or unsold tickets to us at CLSC and we will take things from there. We try and sell the unused tickets at our events, so please return them to the club if you don’t use them.

Join Our Club
Each year riders wait until the last minute to join the club, thinking they will outsmart old man winter if he doesn’t deliver. Remember, even if we don’t ride a year, loan payments, and other operation fees are still needed to keep the trails clean and maintain the equipment. Your support is needed and needed sooner than later. That money helps us get the season started with diesel fuel and other maintenance costs. Without the upfront money, it gets harder and hard to start the season each year. Please join today if you haven’t done so already as you can no longer join at the DMV at the last minute when the snow does arrive.

Memorial Bridge
There will be a dedication for the Robert Raynor memorial bridge on December 29th @ 1:00PM on Trail C-4B just north of Bliss Road crossing (Snow Or No Snow). Bob was one of the movers and shakers in the early days of the snowmobile club. He served as club President and was instrumental in the purchase of the land and the building of the clubhouse back in the early 1980’s. Please stop by if you can for this dedication.

Monthly Meetings - All Are Welcome To Attend
Bi-Monthly club meetings are held the the first and third Wednesday of each Month @ 7:30PM at the clubhouse. All are welcome to attend, bring a friend to learn more about the club or to meet existing members.

Dear CLSC members,

Another snowmobile season is nearly upon us. Forecasters suggest a snowy winter for our region. I hope they are right ! As in every year, trails must be prepared before they can open. With deer season opening earlier, now October first, there are only a few weeks left before most of the private land we use will be closed for hunting until a week before Christmas. Some work has been done but there is much more left to do. Seven bridges need to be totally stripped and re-decked or newly installed. Chainsaw and pole saw work on most trails has not started yet. We are trying to complete the new leg to Busti and making some progress. Obviously we need all the help we can get. There are trail work parties every weekend. Please contact trail Captains, or Officers, myself included, to volunteer. Watch our website and Facebook for updates and general information.

Something else you can do that will help defer Club expenses is simply filling in the log sheet and signing your name at participating gas stations and don’t forget to leave your receipt in the envelope. When the season is over, we compile the highway fuel tax paid and submit to NY State for refund. This can be a substantial rebate to offset our bills.

Last year we increased our groomer fleet to 9 Class A machines to help cover the extra mileage and improve trail conditions throughout our system. We have purchased two (2) brand new drags that are being manufactured and will be delivered in plenty of time before the season starts. The new drags will be replacing two older drags that are currently for sale.

Since registrations were down last season, so was our trail funding. Any help from our membership is greatly appreciated.

Please try to keep your e-mail addresses up to date so that the Club can save postage money by sending newsletters electronically whenever possible. Can't get it at home ? How about work e-mail or close relative ? We will continue to use Postal Mail where we have to which will arrive probably (2) weeks later. Of course the 2012-2013 Chautauqua County Snowmobile Trail Maps still have to be mailed. We are trying to get them out earlier than in the past.

Think snow ! Chris Jaynes, President CLSC

I would like to start out by thanking all of you for making the Chautauqua Lake Snowmobile Club one the largest snowmobile clubs in New York State with over 2000+ members!

I know there is great anticipation for an early and long snowmobiling season this year. To be ready, get your memberships in and register early.

First: You can go to our website chautauquasnow.com and download an application. Follow the directions for filling it out and mail it to me. I will process it immediately. PLEASE NOTE: for those of you who have submitted an email address, NYSSA will email your voucher to you in an email that welcomes you as a new member. I will have to copy and mail vouchers to those who don't have email.

Second: the NYSSA website is available to those who prefer to go that route.
You can register your sleds locally at our DMV.
Their address is: Chautauqua County Department of Motor Vehicles, Hall Clothier Building, 7 North Erie Street, Mayville, NY 14757. They will be more than happy to assist you. Registration applications can be obtained through them. I am willing to get any and all forms to you that you need. I am asking that because postage has become a huge part of our expenses, any donation is greatly appreciated.
We have the best members in Chautauqua county. Have a wonderful and safe season.

Beth Perry, Membership Coordinator

The New York State Snowmobile Association (NYSSA) has ordered the DMV to pull all membership apps/ info from their locations. You must have a voucher in your hand to register your sled from now on and will not be able to join the club and register at the same time. Our clubs in our county have made it easy for you to join and ride for years having everything at the DMV, and having the DMV open on Saturday's. Please join our club early by downloading an application from our website (Application) So that your time is not wasted at the DMV. We ask you not to join our Club on the NYSSA website because our Club loses money by doing it that way, and you do not get to see what our club has to offer! The only thing you see on the NYSSA site is a place to put your info and a place for your card number... If you have any questions or want to speak to somebody from NYSSA about this issue call 1-888-624-3849
