Conditions continue to improve as of 1/28 with the cold temps and grooming work. Trails are in good to very good condition now. Temps are expected to stay cold for the foreseeable future and we even have a little snow in the forecast. Should be a great weekend for Winterfest in Bemus point and the 4th of July Picnic in French Creek, be sure and come out to enjoy these yearly events.
After checking the trails on 1/25 we have decided to upgrade conditions to Fair/Good. Even with minimal base our groomers have done an outstanding job at bringing the snow to the trails. Trails around Sherman and the west side of the lake are especially good. ALSO, C-4 and C-4E are now OPEN to Ellery's system since they opened today (1/26). Gates are all unlocked and mostly swung open. We will get the groomer through as soon as possible. Get out and enjoy the trails! Temps are expected to stay cold for the foreseeable future and we even have a little snow in the forecast. Should be a great weekend for Winterfest in Bemus point and the 4th of July Picnic in French Creek, be sure and come out to enjoy these yearly events.
CLSC trails will open Friday 1/23/15. Conditions LIMITED. Low base with ice and some fresh snow over the ice. Ride with CAUTION. Trail C-4 from junction 104 headed toward Hartfield & Stockton is closed because Ellery’s trails are still closed. Please respect Landowners
Chautauqua Lake trails will be closed Sunday 1/18 due to warm temps and possible rain. Trails were ridden hard today and not much remains of the base. It appears all clubs will be closed Sunday until cold and snow returns. Please respect the landowners and stay off the trails until they are opened once again.
Because we haven't had any additional snow in the past few days the trails are starting to show their age. We still have just under a foot of snow and small base but with warmer weather coming we are uncertain of the trail status from day to day. As of now the hot dog roast is still on for Saturday so come out to S47 at 12:30-2:30 in Mount Pleasant State Park for a bite to eat! We are also having a 50/50 and bonfire at this location. 1 ticket for $2.00 or 2 tickets for $3.00. Winner need NOT be present to win. See you there!
Trails are still open with a more than a foot of snow in most spots. We received another much needed 6+ inches of fresh snow on 1/12 and will begin building a bit of base should the weather hold up. There are still early season hazards such as water and rough wind blown fields in some spots so use caution.
Chautauqua Lake Trails are now open with a little more than a foot of snow in most spots. Be aware that there is a lot of water in spite of the cold temps. If you find a field with questionable snow cover that potentially could cause surface damage, please turn around! Ride with caution as early season problems exist. Grooming tonight.... Please yield to all groomers. Be safe and enjoy!
All trails in Chautauqua county are closed at this time. Please respect our landowners and stay off the trails until we have posted an open message on our website. As of 1/7 we have around 4-6 inches of snow in most of the area but not enough to open the trails just yet. Most of the area is blown over with the high winds making many bare spots. We received a lot of rain over the weekend so there are a lot of wet spots but they will freeze up quickly. We have lower temps in the forecast as well as lake effect snow. We didn't get the lake effect they called for last night, so hopefully over then next couple of days something falls so we can open the trails.
Due to no snow and little base trails will not be opening as scheduled. Please respect landowners and stay off the trails until we open them via our website.
Trails Open Dec. 17th weather and conditions permitting. We need to have at least 3" compacted base so as not to disturb the ground surface.TRAILS ARE CLOSED UNTIL A MESSAGE IS POSTED ON OUR SNOWPHONE OR ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE RESPECT LANDOWNERS AND STAY OFF THE TRAILS UNTIL THEY ARE OFFICIALLY OPEN. WE LOSE MILES OF TRAILS EACH SEASON BECAUSE OF A FEW BAD APPLES. PLEASE DONT BE THAT PERSON WHO RUINS THE TRAIL SYSTEM. WE ALL WANT TO RIDE SO PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL AND WAIT WITH THE REST OF US.
