TRAIL STATUS: CLOSED FOR 2017/2018 SEASON

Chautauqua Lake trails are now open and in good condition. Lots of cold weather has frozen things up and grooming is being done all over. Snow is thin French Creek area and some fields are wind blown but overall good conditions. We will keep you posted when conditions change, watch website as we may have to close them down this weekend

Chautauqua Lake trails are now open. Use caution as some trails have not been checked yet. Snow is thin French Creek area and ice has overflowed onto or near the trail. We will keep you posted when conditions change, watch website as we may have to close them down this weekend.

Trails are closed at this time due to flooding and low base. Pretty much all the snow was eaten away by the warm weather and rain so we are starting over once again and have to wait for things to freeze back up. We got around 8 -12 inches of snow in spots and cold weather looks like it will stick around. We will keep you posted when conditions change, thank you.

CLSC along with the other Chautauqua clubs will be closing trails Wednesday (1/10) at 6:00 AM because of the warm-up and coming rain. This is the best chance to preserve what we have with minimal damage to the base. We will keep you posted, thank you.

As of 1/2 trails are open and in great shape. Groomers have been out smoothing all trails and packing in the huge snowfall. We’ve had a few accidents on the trail system already due to people not staying right around corners and people not staying on marked trails. We take time to mark trails for your safety, tracks in the snow are not trails! Weather is expected to stay cold for the next week so conditions should be good for a while.

Our annual Hot Dog roast is this weekend (1/6 @ 1PM - ?) and will be held at the clubhouse this year rather than S47. Stop out and enjoy a bite to eat when riding, should be great conditions! Trails will be busy this week and upcoming weekend, stay right and ride safe!

Membership packets will be stuffed at next meeting on Wednesday Night

Trail update: 12/29/2017 - Trails are mostly open. If there are closed gates or no signs, DO not open or ride in that area! There as been a few trail re-routes due to people opening gates that should have NOT been opened by snowmobiles, this is also very costly to the club as well. Please ride with caution! There are some water holes and ruts in some trails.

*** If you see branches in the trail, please help us by moving them off the trail! This is a HUGE help for us when we groom the trails *****

Enjoy your ride and be SAFE!

Membership packets will be stuffed at next meeting on Wednesday Night.

DMV office will be open Saturday in Mayville from 9am - 12:45pm (Club membership rep should be at the office as well with maps and key cards for club house access for sale)

CLSC trails will open Thursday 12/28. Ride with CAUTION. Snow is deep and wet underneath. It may also be hiding branches or fallen trees. Snow banks at road crossings are a major safety concern nearing 6ft high. We are trying to open them up. Some signs may be hidden in the snow. There are still a few gates we are trying to get open. Please stay on the trails. Our landowners have been more than generous. Trail to Busti is closed. 4 of our 10 groomers are down, so grooming will be limited and some trails have not been checked. Thank you, ride safe and with a partner.

There is no online web map or gps maps with current trails this year for Chautauqua County.

Trails will not open on 12/20 as we had hoped. Mother Nature has hit us again with warm temps and rain. Most of the snow is now melted and trails are very wet. Also, the Club is still working on replacing washed out pipes from the late November storm. Cold and snow are in the forecast after Christmas, when we will re-evaluate conditions. Please be patient and do not ride on closed trails.

Thank you, Chris Jaynes, President

Snow on the way!!! Good news for the upcoming snowmobile season, but it's too early right now! Trails are still officially CLOSED due to hunting and landowner requests to wait until after the hunter's season ends to open their private land to snowmobile use. Water and mud isn't frozen yet anyhow and many farmer's field have crops still standing or livestock out with their gates closed.
RESPECT the private landowners please!

As a reminder when the season does open. We need about 12 inches of fresh snow to create a 3 inch base to open the trails. Latest conditions and statuses will be posted here as well as through our text alerts. Please stay off the trails until you see a message on our website or facebook page that they have opened.
