Hi,

I am looking for some info on riding from the ANF in Pa through the Allegany State Park and over to the Chautauqua area for the night . . . any input on the mileage and trouble areas would be greatly appreciated. Can this be done, the maps suggest it is no problem at all. I wish you could get out of the Allegany Park through the West or North side, it looks like the only way out will be the East side and then around Olean.

I've never made the trip myself, but it does sound like quite a ride. I grew up around that area and never tried to come north to the chautauqua trails on a trail system. This was around 15 years ago or so but trails have had a lot of growth since then. I'd say if you have the maps and they say you can go you might as well give it a shot. If you make the trip let us know how it goes!

You can't go N or W out of ASP due to the Seneca Indian Reservation. To my knowledge, they don't have or allow any trails across it.

I have done it a few times if your serious let me know and I'll give you the inside scoop. I actually cross the river down in Tidioute and ride up through ANF around Kinzua Reservoir then into ASP. The ride from Limestone up through Olean hinsdale etc isn't great but is possible you won't get good trails until about Little Valley then it's good again (heading west). Advice is free, Guide service is negoitable. Good Luck I guess just tell me where your starting from and where you want to end up.
