TRAILS CLOSED - SEASON STARTS 12/17

Welcome to Snowmobiling In Chautauqua New York

The Chautauqua Lake Snowmobile Club was founded in 1968 for the purpose of making a local trail system that was both safe and enjoyable. Located in the western-most part of New York State where the average annual snowfall exceeds 250 inches, its volunteers maintain over 200 miles of scenic trails. These are linked to local service businesses and other clubs in the county. Our clubhouse, located on Hannum Rd. in Mayville, NY, is available to all 2300+ CLSC members and has comfort facilities as well as a mini kitchen.

Our club currently operates 9 Class “A” Groomers and expends countless volunteer hours preparing the trails for snow. There are fun family activities from dinner rides to bonfires throughout the season for everyone. We invite you to join our group of active snowmobile enthusiasts and get to know us and make this your personal trail system! Click Here To Join Our Club

Club Meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at 7:30 pm September through April, and the 1st Wednesday May through August. We welcome everyone to attend these meetings.

Signing Class - 10/15 @ 6:30PM
Signing Class @ 6:30 PM Oct. 15th at the clubhouse on Hannum Rd. Ray Head will be conducting this refresher course. We would like all groomer operators and anyone who helps sign to attend. The class will only be about 45 minutes long. The regular meeting will commence at 7:30 PM. Thanks !

Groomer Operator Training Class - Need Reservations
Safety Coordinator for Chautauqua Lake Snowmobile Club, Scott Shapert has spoken with Jim McFarland of OPRHP (Parks) about coming to Chautauqua County and putting on a Groomer Operator Training Class. No date or location has been picked at this point. We need about 30 people interested and willing to attend this class before we ask Jim McFarland to come. He will not come for just a couple people. Anybody who attends can get a Groomer Operator Training Certificate. We always seem to be adding new people as groomer operators and a refresher would not hurt for those who have already gotten a certificate. We would like all groomer operators to attend if possible. We would like the class to be scheduled for late October or November if possible. If you are interested in attending this class please contact Scott @ clscsafety@chautauquasnow.com.

Fall 2014 Newsletter Released
I can't believe how fast this summer has gone by. Winter will be here before you know it. Long range forecasts indicate another cold winter. I'm hoping for more snow and the Lake Erie snow-making machine to stay open longer than last year. We are making some trail changes for this season that we hope will help in some areas. Several fields that we have typically crossed through the middle will be moved to the edges to protect spring grass growth. There will probably be some other small trail re-routes that should benefit Landowners as well as the trail system. As always, please follow the marked trails and do not wander outside the stakes onto private land.

Web Camera Sponsors
We are currently looking for web camera sponsors for the web cameras through our trail system. The cost of these cameras and maintenance has become a burden and we need some sponsors. For $100, each sponsor will be a listed advertiser on the webcam selection page and may also have rotating banner ads throughout the website. Contact Us today if you are interested.
